Ask me anything   Profile   Anime List   Planned Anime Watch List

Hi, kappacha here! I'm 30 years old, and I grew up loving Japanese culture, animation, and art. As you can tell by this blog, I am a big fan of Ranma 1/2.

My little corner of the internet here on tumblr focused on anime, culture, food, gaming, and cute stuff here and there. I hope you enjoy! https://twitter.com/kappachatter

Sailor Moon site with a list of artists/illustrators?

I woulda thought with the bazillion Sailor Moon sites, it would have lists of the illustrators and artists who did the various artbooks and card artwork…you’d think right?  Either that, or I don’t know where to look.  I know of the ones that list art directors, but none of them have any info on the people who do the illustrations for the pull pack/Cardass cards, posters, or various illustrations and anime artbooks.  Well outside the well-known ones, like Itoh and Tadano.

Looks like another thing I need to add to list of things to research and make public.  Haha.

Researching that earlier post about the Sailor Moon/Marmalade Boy comparison pieces, and realized that Sailor Moon artist is one my favorites, yet I don’t know their name.  I thought it was Tadano, but then the faces have an almost, Atsuko Nakajima-ish shape to them (the cheeks) and Tadano’s cheeks are round and softer; less sharp.  I’m stumped.

I really need to get more old Newtypes so I can look at artist’s names more.

Marmalade Boy artbook VS Sailor Moon Trading cards

Very interesting comparison! Does anyone know who the specific artist was for these trading cards? Now I’m really curious.

This site has the Makoto Kino one tagged as Tadano.  Zerochan has Rei and Ami’s sourced as Tadano too, but I can’t tell… (and Zerochan has Itoh images tagged as Tadano too, so I don’t know how reliable either is)
I tried doing some research, there are two images on Minitokyo that credit Toei Douga.   東 映動画 is the kanji, which reads “Toei Douga”, Toei Animation’s original name until 1998.  So that’s not really helpful, lol.
